Oregon Scientific BAR888NA Cable Free Weather Forecaster with ExactSet Clock and Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer
0 comments Posted by Olive at 8:31 AMForecast temperature and humidity levels with Oregon Scientifics cable-free weather system. Plan for outdoor conditions or monitor the climate indoors. This versatile gadget mounts on a wall or stands alone on a tabletop. Its display features easy-to-read, digital numbers, and indicates humidity, temperature, barometric pressure, time of day, date, plus daily minimum and maximum temperatures. Straightforward graphics also depict sunny, cloudy, partly-cloudy and rainy conditions. A pressure-trend indicator notes when pressure rises, falls, or stays steady. Temperature readings are available in both Fahrenheit and Celsius. An included cable-free model-THR138 sensor measures outdoor temperatures from -5 to +50 degrees Celsius or 23 to +122 degrees Fahrenheit. This weather station has a transmission range of 90 feet--between monitor and sensor--and forecasts for the next 12 to 24 hours.
This handy tool also has an ExactSet Clock. Radio-controlled by the United States Atomic Clock in Boulder, Colorado, it resets daily to the hour, minute, and second for continued accuracy. It also automatically adjusts for daylight savings time. Both date and day of week can be displayed in English, French, or Spanish. A programmable alarm sounds with increasing volume for 2 minutes, rousing sleepers gradually. This weather system measures 7-1/4 by 5-1/4 by 2-3/4 inches, and weighs 1 pound as shipped. --Jessica Reuling
Customer Review: Weather at a Glance!
We received this weather station as a gift and have really enjoyed it. So, we decided that if we liked it, we might as well share the wealth. We've given this as a gift and it was very well received. It's nice to see what the forecast is going to be, and what the high & low has been. The only thing that proved annoying was when my husband accidently turned the alarm on. It took us days to figure out where the faint beeping sound was coming from. (Smile)
Customer Review: no backlight
The Idea of the product is good. However the product has no lighting at all on it. This has been troublesome considering you set your alarm at night (when it is dark) and you usually wake up when it is dark. Because there is no backlight you can't see the time or temp.
Oregon Scientific RAR232 Cable-Free Remote Thermometer, Silver
0 comments Posted by Olive at 6:47 AMThis streamlined gadget is perfect for the weather buff that needs to track indoor and outdoor temperatures, but doesn't have room for a bulky weather station. Three, easy-to-read LCD panels display temperature at the main unit, temperature as measured by a remote sensor, day of the week, and time as measured by a precision, digital quartz clock. (This calendar clock function can switch to a date/month display mode.) A remote temperature sensor with weatherproof casing sends data to the main unit via radio waves, allowing wireless operation and easy, painless setup. The station measures indoor temperatures between 23 and 122 degrees Fahrenheit, and outdoor temperatures between 14 and 122 degrees Fahrenheit. Its slim main unit fits almost anywhere in the home--simply mount it on a wall or rest it on the included, detachable table stand.
Oregon Scientific has packed a surprising number of features into this compact unit including: a two-minute crescendo alarm, day of the week display in five languages, the choice of 12- or 24-hour clock format, and Celsius or Fahrenheit temperature readings. This gadget also stores minimum and maximum temperatures for both indoors and out--recalling data with the touch of a button. A remote sensor indicates temperature on a separate LCD panel, and can be used freestanding or wall-mounted with included bracket. This sensor has a transmission range of up to 100 feet. Two AA batteries each power the main unit and remote sensor. Both devices have a low battery indicator. --Mary Park
Customer Review: Accurate and Useful
I keep the main gauge downstairs and the second (remote) gauge upstairs. It lets me know the temperature in the whole house without me going upstairs to check. The easy to read display helps as well. The "remote" has a thermometer display on it too so I don't have to be at the main station to see the temperature. One bad thing is that there is no light or backlight. When the room is dark, you can't see the display very well. For that reason, I can only give it 4 out of 5 stars.

For the price, the Oregon wireless remote grill thermometer is a great tool. Can't grill without it.
