Rainy days just got better. Our favorite rain gauge just got better too. The expanded features include 10-day memory and indoor/outdoor temperature. Sit back and enjoy the rain and check weekly to find out if your garden needs additional watering.
Customer Review: disappointing
I'm not usually one to write a review, but this product and company warrants one. I was very excited to find this product available--it has just the features I wanted. The battery installation on the rain gauge, as mentioned by others, was quite an ordeal, but considering how often this is needed, not a big deal. I ordered in the spring, and was very happy with both temperature readings. throughout the summer, we used it to gauge when to turn on our whole house fan in the evenings. When the first rain came, my frustration began. After troubleshooting as directed, Oregon Scientific told me to send it in, that the gauge was not communicating with the main unit. That was September. I still have not received a replacement, despite calls every 1-2 weeks. The only response I get is, "that will ship next week, but we're out of stock now." Last week, I'd heard the same response enough, and called Amazon, asking what they suggested I do. Dealing with Amazon was the only positive part--after a few minutes of describing the situation, they sent me a new one, here in two days. I set it up... The new thermometer was very inconsistent, and after a day, stopped working altogether. Before this happened, I carefully tested several rain-gauge locations, set it up, and anticipated the rain that evening. No rain, at least according to my gauge. Then no communication with the main unit. I'm frustrated with not only the product, but the terrible customer service that Oregon Scientific provides. I'll be in touch with Amazon to see about a refund or exchange for a better-functioning product from another company. Any recommendations?
Customer Review: Works great. Nice when I'm out of town.
I purchased this product about two months ago and it has been working great. I have the rain sensor about 100 ft away on my back patio and always have had a good signal. The 10 day history is in my opinion the best feature, since you can view the specific rainfall day by day - a nice feature when you are gone for a few days.

Forecast temperature and humidity levels with Oregon Scientifics cable-free weather system. Plan for outdoor conditions or monitor the climate indoors. This versatile gadget mounts on a wall or stands alone on a tabletop. Its display features easy-to-read, digital numbers, and indicates humidity, temperature, barometric pressure, time of day, date, plus daily minimum and maximum temperatures. Straightforward graphics also depict sunny, cloudy, partly-cloudy and rainy conditions. A pressure-trend indicator notes when pressure rises, falls, or stays steady. Temperature readings are available in both Fahrenheit and Celsius. An included cable-free model-THR138 sensor measures outdoor temperatures from -5 to +50 degrees Celsius or 23 to +122 degrees Fahrenheit. This weather station has a transmission range of 90 feet--between monitor and sensor--and forecasts for the next 12 to 24 hours.

This handy tool also has an ExactSet Clock. Radio-controlled by the United States Atomic Clock in Boulder, Colorado, it resets daily to the hour, minute, and second for continued accuracy. It also automatically adjusts for daylight savings time. Both date and day of week can be displayed in English, French, or Spanish. A programmable alarm sounds with increasing volume for 2 minutes, rousing sleepers gradually. This weather system measures 7-1/4 by 5-1/4 by 2-3/4 inches, and weighs 1 pound as shipped. --Jessica Reuling
Customer Review: Weather at a Glance!
We received this weather station as a gift and have really enjoyed it. So, we decided that if we liked it, we might as well share the wealth. We've given this as a gift and it was very well received. It's nice to see what the forecast is going to be, and what the high & low has been. The only thing that proved annoying was when my husband accidently turned the alarm on. It took us days to figure out where the faint beeping sound was coming from. (Smile)
Customer Review: no backlight
The Idea of the product is good. However the product has no lighting at all on it. This has been troublesome considering you set your alarm at night (when it is dark) and you usually wake up when it is dark. Because there is no backlight you can't see the time or temp.

Customer Review: Good product, good price
I am quite satisfied with so far with this OS thermometer/atomic clock. It does everything it's supposed to do and I expected of it. Just be patient and the clock will set itself. My only complaint is that in certain lighting situations the display can be somewhat difficult to see.

We purchases the base which comes with satellite monitor. We have the base inside, the other monitor outside and bought a second for our wine cellar. It was easy to set up and use. It is accurate and we haven't had any problems after a year.
Customer Review: Oregon Scientific BAR898HGA
This is a swseet system for monitoring the temperatures in 4 locations. I have the base unit in the study, one outside, one in the basement and one in the attic. The basement unit I use to monitor the humidity, as we have a lot of stuff stored there, and I want to be sure the dehumidifyer is set at the proper level. The attic unit I use to monitor the heat buildup in the summer to determine if I need to put in other cooling devices. The outdoor unit and the study unit have the obvious benefits. The system also maintains a perfect time that is set by the US satellite sytem, and so I adjust all other clocks and watches in the house to match this standard. I also view the base unit from time to time to see what the weather forecast is, but that is not its main use.

Perfect for monitoring outdoor temperatures next to the kitchen or living room windows, Oregon Scientific's John Deere digital clock comes with a water resistant outdoor probe on a 10-foot cable. The unit displays the time in bold, black digits and, without cluttering its austere screen for easy reading, also shows both indoor and outdoor temperatures at the same time. The backlit LED screen means easy reading even at night. And, the unit mounts to the wall or sets on the desktop for easy viewing. ++ Your electronic products today, like electronic toys and portable audio, are more thirsty for power than ever. Customer Review: Does what it's supposed to do
This item was way smaller than what I expected. However, it gets the job done.
Customer Review: Unreliable (have two units)
I have bought two of these sets (but about a month apart, so they shouldn't be the same production run). Both of the wireless remote sensor links stopped working after about six months. BOTH WERE PURCHASED ON AMAZON, but one was through an Amazon-affiliated vendor. Oregon Scientific would not honor the warranty, even though the unit was brand-new. It's not an issue with the batteries- tried lots of things to get them working, and called support a couple of times. I am utterly unimpressed and disappointed with Oregon Scientific and their unreliable products. Being an electronic design engineer, I can see they could have done much better to make a quality product. Now I know why they look for loopholes to avoid honoring their purported warranty. AVOID this!!!

Customer Review: Don't waste your money!!
I ordered this because it had all the features I needed at the right price. I received the merchandise quickly and installed the batteries. The main unit picked up the sensor just fine - UNTIL - if you set the clock or date, the signal is lost!! I repeated this experiment 3 times - at distances of 1", 10", and 10' - EVERY time the unit lost the sensors signal. The seller took care of me, but I do NOT recommend this product to anyone unless you like to buy Junk.
Customer Review: Beware of accuracy and Oregon Scinetific policy about accuracy
I bought this unit to replace another unit from another vendor. The problem I had with my other unit was poor range of the wireless sender. I also wanted a temperature alarm because I will be using this in an RV and want to make sure my water compartment does not freeze. The base is small and compact and the LCD is perhaps a little crowded but not terrible I would say. I do like the size. My disappointments with this unit and remote are twofold. I ran into a problem with accuracy on the remote... the temperature reported was 3 to 4 degrees off from the base unit temperature when they were sitting side by side. This was in comparison to the units I was replacing as well some other non wireless thermometers I used for comparison. I proceeded to the Oregon Scientific web site and requested support on this issue online. Their site says you should get a response within 4 days. After 8 days, I had not received a response so I called the company and explained my issue. The following is what they told me. After telling me who their products are not intended as scientifically calibrated instruments (I sensed they have heard this complaints before), they indicated that their policy is that a thermometer (or remote sender) can be plus or minus 2.5 degrees off from another unit. This is not 2.5 plus or minus from the real temperature but from the any other sender or base unit. I indicated that this could mean that a unit could be off 5 or 10 degrees from the real temperature and they answered that my interpretation was correct and that this is their policy. I did not accept the explanation from the first support agent so she handed me off to another support agent who reiterated the policy. Two different support people from Oregon Scientific had now told me the same thing. I was not expecting perfection, but I guess since this unit is priced a little more than average that at least it would be somewhat accurate... maybe one to two degrees off at most. A I mentioned at least three other thermometers that I used to compare the results from this one were within about 1 degree of each other. The base unit on this one was close but the remote was significantly off. To me it seems that Oregon Scientific's policy on accuracy is absurd. One question I asked the support person is why didn't Oregon Scientific articulate this policy on the packaging so that a consumer could make a reasonable and informed choice based on that information... of course there was no answer. I think that if the consumer knew how inaccurate a thermometer Oregon Scientific's policy allows their products to be, this knowledge would be detrimental to their sales. After all, isn't accuracy what a digital thermometer is all about? I know that had I known all this, I would not have bought this product. I guess my reaction is that I had an incorrect perception of Oregon Scientific products being step up products.... Something a little better. Certainly their customer service response, their policies and the product itself suggests otherwise.

Conquer the limits of space and time with this cable-free radio-frequency thermometer from Oregon Scientific. Tuning in to as many as three remote units at once, this thermometer helps monitor the four corners of your kingdom from one base unit. The kit includes one remote sensor, which can be stationed up to 120 feet away and sends signals every 30 seconds. The main unit's LCD screen lets you assign a channel to each remote, and then scroll through the menu as necessary. You can also set temperature range limits, program alarms, and recall recent highs and lows at each location. A temperature-trend icon reveals whether temperatures are rising, steady, or dropping. The thermometer's base-unit range is 23 to 122 degrees F, while the remote sensor runs from 58 to 158 degrees F. Both units feature an optional Centigrade scale. Designed for the desktop or the wall, each piece of equipment requires two AA batteries. --Emily Bedard
Customer Review: Negative experience
NOT SO GOOD TRANSMITTER & RECEIVER WORKED FINE FOR ABOUT A WEEK. THEN TRANSMITTER SHUT DOWN. NEW BATTERY, TWICE, MADE NO DIFFERENCE. UNABLE TO FIND A PATH TO CONTACT AMAZON. DID FIND A PATH AT OREGON SCIENTIFIC WHICH PROMISED A RESPONSE WITHIN 4 DAYS. BEEN 2 WEEKS NOW AND NO RESPONSE FROM THEM. RECEIVER STILL WORKS FINE BUT GIVES ONLY INDOOR TEMP. TRANSMITTER WAS IN SHELTERED SPOT AND SUFFERED NO DAMAGE OTHER THAN ZOMKING OUT. BAD EXPERIENCE WITH BOTH COMPANIES
Customer Review: A Good Buy!
Product works great and was easy to install . . just insert batteries in both units and hang. The large digital display is easy to read, much improved over my previous model (another brand).

Customer Review: Inaccurate and Unpredictable
This instrument is a joke. It comes with a base and a remote sensor unit (temp only) and the accuracy of the temp readings is way off. The remote sensor reports temps consistently 2 - 6 degrees too high and neither the base or the remote can be calibrated sooooo you're just stuck with an inaccurate instrument. Even set side-by-side, the temp readings from the base differ from the readings of the remote sensor by 2 - 4 degrees! The instructions are some of the worse I have ever encountered. The website offers no additional help at all. The radio communication between the remote sensor and the base is poor and unreliable. The lag time between actual ambient temp and sensor readings can be upwards of 10 - 20 minutes! So if you are watching for rain changing to ice or snow be aware that the displayed temp is perhaps twenty minutes behind reporting the actual temperature. Overall, an inaccurate and unreliable instrument good for - what? A pathetic rip-off!
Customer Review: Beware - Does not include humidity sensor
I gave my wife a similar Oregon Scientific Wireless Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer (RMR382A-BK) for Christmas. I wanted another unit to put in another room in the house, so ended up purchasing this unit -- it was only a little more money but had some cool extra features (humity, heat index, etc...). BUT this unit comes with just a wireless temperature sensor that does NOT detects humidity levels so the humidity percentage readout in the center of the screen along with the heat index and other features DO NOT WORK unless you buy a different sensor!! The manual tells you half the features do not work unless you buy a different sensor than is included and provides the model number (sorry, I dont have it, I already returned the unit with it's manual).

Oregon Scientifics' THT312 Digital Clock with Thermometer conveniently displays the time, indoor temperature and outdoor temperature via an easy-to-read LCD display. This unit features a 10 foot weather resistant probe which monitors outdoor temperature for display to the main unit. A convenient LED backlight provides easy viewing in all conditions. This compact unit can be wall mounted or displayed on a desk top or shelf.
Customer Review: Does What it is Supposed to...
Reasonably priced, easy to use, accurate with digits large enough to be read from 5ft away. What's not to like?
Customer Review: It meets my needs
I bought this for my bed room to monitor the change of condition. I would say this is a good buy because it has a large LED screen, easy and simple read, nice look, and good quality. This is also good for those people, like me, who don't like complicate instructions on small thing.

Customer Review: Buzzing sound with back light
The product is good looking and functional. The self-setting clock works well even with recent day light saving changes. However, the unit makes a loud buzzing noise whenever the back light is on. I have exchanged two units and both are the same.
Customer Review: Please note: Atomic Clock wont work on The East Coast...
You have to be within 932 miles of Boulder, CO for the atomic clock feature to work. For instance, Richmond,VA is over 1700 miles from there. The stores here had fantastic clearance sales on this item. You found out why when you read the instructions, calculated the distance to boulder, CO, or contacted customer service. The .pdf file of the manual is available on the Oregon Scientific site. Their "Weather in Motion" model (Amazon calls it a "Near Far Weather Station") says in it's literature that it can receive from 2000 miles away. This would be a better choice if you live on the East Coast.

Customer Review: Great Indoor Outdoor Thermometer
I love the size of this little unit. It sits on my counter and isn't in the way at all. Very accurate with the temperature as well. If this one "dies" on me, I'll definitely purchase another one the same.
Customer Review: Tried Two-Neither Worked
I purchased this weather station needing information about the outside temperature from indoors. The indoor temperature information display worked fine, but it failed to communicate at all with the outdoor sensor. I even tried setting them side by side and changing brand new batteries when following the directions produced no reading. I returned the item and Amazon sent me a new unit at zero cost, to me, even covering the return shipping. The second unit communicated with the sensor for about 24 hours and then quit. Again the indoor information was displayed, but my need is for the outdoor information. The base unit and the sensor were placed less than 15 feet apart and within a direct line of sight through a sliding glass door. I'll be looking to a different manufacturer for a replacement. Amazon was great throughout the situation.

Customer Review: Thermometer review
Oregon Wireless Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer is very reliable and accurate. The remote sensor is posted one floor below the thermometer on the same side of the house. Battery life is good. The only shortcoming is that the readout is too small which makes it hard to see from across the room or in low light.

Housed in high-tech blue plastic, this alarm clock is far more sophisticated than its cute appearance may lead one to believe. Whether you check on the time by consulting the clock's LCD screen or by looking at a large red-light projection of the time beamed onto a wall or ceiling, you'll know it's accurate. That's because the clock is equipped with a radio receiver tuned to the U.S. Atomic Clock, and keeps time with split-second accuracy by automatically adjusting, if necessary, to the Atomic Clock's signals six times every 24 hours. From those signals, the 5-1/4-by-4-1/2-inch clock (2-1/2 inches thick) not only shows the precise time, but also displays the date and day, with automatic adjustment for daylight-saving time and leap year, according to the North American time zone for which the clock is set. (The day can be shown in English, Spanish, or French.)

The red-light projection makes it possible to check the time without squinting. If the clock is in battery mode (two AA batteries required but not included), pressing the clock's snooze bar will beam the time onto the ceiling for five seconds--and also backlight the LCD screen. If the clock is plugged into a wall socket with an AC adapter (included), the projection and backlighting will be available either for five seconds with the snooze bar or continuously if a continuous-beam control is set. As a backup, you can set the time, day, and date manually as well as automatically. --Fred Brack
Customer Review: Love this clock
This is my second Oregon Scientific projection clock. I love how it resets itself with the time changes, the simplicity of the alarm feature, the small space it takes at the bedside, and the incredibly clear projection on the ceiling. Small enough to carry with me when I travel - YEAH!
Customer Review: not worth it
I was very disappointed when I received this clock after reading all the reviews about it and seeing it was a top seller. I bought a competing clock 2 years ago from Amazon and accidentally dropped it and wanted to replace it with the same clock.at the same price..$20...but the clock is no longer available at Amazon (Emerson Research). It had a much more powerful projector, able to swivel, spin it, had HUGE nite glow numbers, also a radio and auto time set.... This junky little thing from Oregon Research is tiny...cheap construction and tiny buttons. It also has a tiny projection feature with no flexibility in viewing angles, and of course it doesn't have a radio. I can't believe this is a top seller on Amazon. I would buy the Emerson (sold at Target) for the same price hands down. (Oh by the way, the satellite time setting feature of the Oregon unit didn't work either). I have returned the unit. Do yourself a favor...keep looking!

I check it every morning on the way out the door. It also serves another purpose. If your kids are a little lacking in common sense, or don't think it's "cool" to wear a coat, how about "If that thing reads less than 65 degrees, you will wear a coat!". Of course, if you don't want to run the probe wire out through the door or window, and you'd like a clock that sets itself and tells you the date, you may want to take a look at the Oregon Scientific RMR 112 on our other page. Customer Review: works extremely well, but poor instructions
This wireless indoor-outdoor thermometer works as advertised. Its remote sensors have very good range and seem quite accurate. It was frustrating to set up because the instructions were not very clear. Once you figure out how to set up the sensors and base, you should write down how you did it. If you don't write it down you'll get frustrated when you have to change the batteies in one of the sensors.
Customer Review: Works but manual is terrible
This unit works as advertised but the manual is awful. Be prepared for some experimentation. When the indoor receiver stopped displaying the outdoor temp, it took me a while to figure out that the receiver's batteries were low. A good manual would greatly increase the value of this product.

This tiny indoor/outdoor thermometer can be posted anywhere without being conspicuous but has a large display, making it easy to read from a distance. Measuring 3-1/4 by 2-1/4 inches, the thermometer mounts via two adhesive pads to a wall or window and uses an internal sensor to detect indoor temperatures. A sensor probe on a 12-foot wire connects to the thermometer and can run out from under a closed window to give accurate outdoor temperature readings as well. Temperatures are displayed in either Fahrenheit or Celsius and measure ranges from 32 to 122 degrees F (0 to 50 degrees C) indoors and -58 to 158 degrees F (-50 to 70 degrees C) outdoors. The unit also operates as a digital clock and alternates between showing the current temperature and time on its screen. In addition to its wall mount, the thermo-clock has a built-in stand for resting on a windowsill or desktop. This digital thermometer runs on one AAA battery (included) and is covered by a 90-day warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde
Customer Review: Great for the Price - Lasted over 5 years
I bought this unit five or six years ago and it recently quit. As stated elsewhere, the display shows either the indoor or outdoor temperature alternating with the time. It is easy to change which temperature is displayed from the front. The unit can be mounted on a wall with double-stick tape or set on a flat surface with a tip-out support. It was a little tricky setting the time as the buttons were very small but this only has to be done when daylight time changes or the battery is replaced so it is not a big deal. The sensor cord is fairly long so you have some flexibility in locating it outside. A wire bracket is supplied to mount the outside sensor. The original batery lasted up until about a year ago and was easy to replace. Recently the digits stopped displaying correclty and the readout can not be understood. Considering the cost and the length of life, I am thinking of buying another one.

I choose this item because it was inexpensive and yet would give me everything I wanted, ie, outside temperature and time. It was all automatic. No gimmicks, no hassle. It is everything I need.

Radio Controlled Atomic Alarm Clock sets itself using U.S. Atomic Clock radio waves. Monitors indoor and outdoor temperature. Wireless transmission frequency. Crescendo dual alarm with 8-minute snooze function. Low battery indicator. Table or wall mount option.

This streamlined gadget is perfect for the weather buff that needs to track indoor and outdoor temperatures, but doesn't have room for a bulky weather station. Three, easy-to-read LCD panels display temperature at the main unit, temperature as measured by a remote sensor, day of the week, and time as measured by a precision, digital quartz clock. (This calendar clock function can switch to a date/month display mode.) A remote temperature sensor with weatherproof casing sends data to the main unit via radio waves, allowing wireless operation and easy, painless setup. The station measures indoor temperatures between 23 and 122 degrees Fahrenheit, and outdoor temperatures between 14 and 122 degrees Fahrenheit. Its slim main unit fits almost anywhere in the home--simply mount it on a wall or rest it on the included, detachable table stand.

Oregon Scientific has packed a surprising number of features into this compact unit including: a two-minute crescendo alarm, day of the week display in five languages, the choice of 12- or 24-hour clock format, and Celsius or Fahrenheit temperature readings. This gadget also stores minimum and maximum temperatures for both indoors and out--recalling data with the touch of a button. A remote sensor indicates temperature on a separate LCD panel, and can be used freestanding or wall-mounted with included bracket. This sensor has a transmission range of up to 100 feet. Two AA batteries each power the main unit and remote sensor. Both devices have a low battery indicator. --Mary Park
Customer Review: Accurate and Useful
I keep the main gauge downstairs and the second (remote) gauge upstairs. It lets me know the temperature in the whole house without me going upstairs to check. The easy to read display helps as well. The "remote" has a thermometer display on it too so I don't have to be at the main station to see the temperature. One bad thing is that there is no light or backlight. When the room is dark, you can't see the display very well. For that reason, I can only give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Customer Review: Xmas gifts
I bought three of these for Christmas gifts for my family. They all loved them and reported that they work as advertised.

* Clock and calendar * Crescendo alarm * Outdoor temperature range of -20 deg. F to 140 deg. F * Remote sensor has 100' transmission range * Memory for maximum and minimum temperatures * Wall-mount or desk top display option * THN122 sensor included * 2AA required for both main unit and sensor * Carded
